Applicable CMS requirements
Map the programs and obligations that actually apply, including the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) where relevant. Consider documentation, care coordination and program-specific responsibilities before changing the workflow.
Align operational ownership with applicable quality measures and reporting needs, including the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) where relevant. Keep the source, reviewer and evidence-retention approach clear.
Consider the CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule (CMS-0057-F) where applicable when designing data exchange and handoffs. Validate affected entities, scope and implementation with qualified reviewers.
Design for appropriate access, minimum necessary information, vendor review and traceable handling of sensitive data. Confirm HIPAA responsibilities and contractual requirements for the implementation.
This page describes design considerations, not legal advice, an independent compliance assessment, CMS endorsement or HIPAA certification. Program interpretation, deployment approval and compliance decisions require the organization’s qualified legal, clinical and compliance reviewers.
